International Fund for Agriculture Development(IFAD):
IFAD
is a specialized agency of the United Nations. It was established as an
International Financial Institution in 1977 as one of the major
outcomes of the 1974 World Food Conference. IFAD's mission is to “Enable
poor Rural People to Overcome Poverty”. Working with the rural poor
people, governments, donors, non-government organizations and many other
partners. IFAD focuses on country specific solutions, which can involve
increasing rural poor peoples’ access to financial services, markets,
technology, land and other natural resources.
India
is not only the largest recipient of IFAD's assistance, but is also one
of its main donors having a permanent seat in its Executive
Board. Working in close partnership with the Government of India and
other donors, IFAD has been funding projects for rural development,
tribal development, women’s empowerment, natural resources management
and rural finance. Since starting operations in 1978, IFAD has invested
more than US$ 9.6 billion in 738 projects and programmes that have
reached more than 300 million poor rural people
Sir Ratan Tata Trust (SRTT):
SRTT is
a grant making foundation, which supports efforts for the development
of society in several areas including Rural Livelihoods &
Communities, Education, Health, Civil Society & Governance and Arts
& Culture. The Rural Livelihoods and Communities (RCL) portfolio
comprises of (i) Development of Land and Water Resources; and (ii) Micro
finance which accounts for 70% of the Trust’s overall grant making.
Government of India / Government of Maharashtra:
The
major part of the programme coat will come from ongoing government
(Central & State) programmes and schemes through convergence. The
schemes like NREGA, MREGS can help to create the water harvesting
structures in off season of the farming. The landless community will
also et employment through such schemes. This will not only solve the
problem of unemployment but also check the migration of the unskilled
labours from villages to cities.
